Powder Brow

Powder Eyebrows is a form of tattooing, but it is different from the traditional method.

It is a more modern method because it is surface work meaning it is on the epidermis layer of the skin.

The technique is described by it’s name – the results are more powdery and fluffy. It looks like you have makeup on!

The results will last 1-3 years depending on skin type and lifestyle.

An incredible life changing treatment where natural pigments are applied at the epidermal level of the scalp to replicate the natural appearance of real hair follicles.

SMP refers to medical tattooing of the scalp used for camouflaging purposes. SMP can be used to camouflage baldness either as a standalone procedure for someone who does not want to undergo a hair transplant or combined with a hair transplant (afterward as needed or desired) to enhance a surgical result.

At other times, the micropigmentation can be used to camouflage a scar, for instance, a linear donor scar in the back of the head, with or without hair transplant into the scar.

Powder Brow is a cosmetic tattoo procedure that is a solid fill of the eyebrow.

It is semi-permanent lasting 1-3 years.

The pigment goes on the epidermis layer of the skin and is all surface work (not deep into the skin like traditional tattoos).

Immediately after, it will be darker, but once healed it will be about 30%-50% softer producing a beautiful powdery finish.

It looks like you filled in your eyebrows with powder.

After healing they will shrink 1/4 in size.

Powder Brows are great for:

Clients who don’t want to color in their brows

Clients who have alopecia

Clients that have very thin brows or very little eyebrow hair

Clients who have inconsistent distribution of hair throughout their brows (such as a dense amount of hair at the head of the brow, but little hair at the tail of the brow)

The Process

Before your appointment

Before each treatment, the skin should not be burnt, nor in recovery or regeneration process.

The following treatments are not recommended 30 days before the treatment:

  • botox and fillers
  • fruit or lactic acids
  • laser treatments
  • chemical peel
  • exposure to strong sunlight.

Botox manipulates the area of the skin and can change the look of your eyebrows entirely.  Botox also moves around the pigment that is placed under your skin leaving you with uneven eyebrows.

Please make sure to find an artist that consistently posts healed work. The right after pics are crisp & clean, but the healed results are what matters the most since this is how they will look in the long run.

Aftercare:

Please read all aftercare instructions to make sure you can commit to this brow journey, especially for the first 7-10 days.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in pigment loss!

Proper aftercare is very important to acheive long term success, health, and overall satisfaction with your new eyebrow tattoo. It is very important to follow those instructions in order to achieve the best results from your permanent makeup procedure.

DO NOT TOUCH THE HEALING PIGMENTED AREA WITH YOUR FINGERS. THEY MAY HAVE BACTERIA ON THEM AND CREATE AN INFECTION

  • Apply a very, very thin coat of Aquaphor, Vaseline or Bacitracin (if not allergic) 2-3 times/day when needed (i.e. when it feels dry) for 7-10 days. Discontinue after peeling has completed.
  • To clean, always use a clean dry q-tip, wipe off the existing ointment that are on your eyebrows, dampen another q-tip and with just a little bit of water and gently wipe clean. Pat dry with a clean/dry tissue and reapply the ointment.
  • For the first 24 hours, lymph fluids may surface on your eyebrow, in which case, take a clean/dry tissue and dab gently over the area.
  • For the first 24 hours, avoid any contact with water
  • If slight crust appears on the pigmented surface, do not pick! You will remove pigment along with the crusting and create potential for scarring.
  • After 24 hours, you may use a gentle cleanser with your finger tips to wash the area, pat the area dry with a clean towel or tissue. DO NOT SCRUB OR RUB FORCEFULLY.
  • Your eyebrow may have some peeling on or around the third day. This is a normal part of the healing process on some clients.
  • Do not apply makeup over healing areas
  • Avoid excessive sweating/exercise, sun, saunas, and swimming (including chlorinated pools or jacuzzis, the ocean, or recreational bodies of water)
  • Avoid facials 6 weeks after your procedure
  • Use a broad spectrum sunblock after area has healed to slow fading
  • Do not use products containing AHA’s on or near pigmented areas including glycolic or lactic acids or Retin A products (they will fade the pigment)
  • Avoid products containing Aloe Vera, Vitamin E during the healing process
  • Do not donate blood for one year after the procedure, per the Red Cross
  • Follow up appointments should be scheduled between 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure. Do not judge your procedure while it is in the healing process as it may require a follow up
  • If you experience excessive itching, swelling, blistering or any other complications post-procedure, STOP using the aftercare product and contact your technician immediately, you may be allergic to the aftercare product
  • All tattoos carry the inherent risk of infection and/or allergic reaction, so if swelling, pain, bruising persists for more than a few days, it may be a sign of infection, so be sure to contact your doctor right away
  • Botox, facial laser treatments or chemical peels will affect the pigment from the procedure and the overall appearance.

The Healing:

Average healing time will vary from person to person and will depend on several physiological factors that include age, skin type, circulation, hormonal cycles, and how easily and/or severely you swell and bruise.  Generally, as with any type of skin trauma, older looser skin tends to take a bit longer than younger skin to heal.  Other factors that may affect healing time include diet, excessive physical activity, exposure to direct sunlight, and any medications you might be taking.
